Dining Out: RIS

Restaurant Week was short for me this year- just three places, once of which I’ve been to before. Then I literally couldn’t find Todd Gray’s Watershed. (Seriously, drove around and around and around and no sign, no street numbers, no nothing, not even the hotel I discovered after calling, that it was supposedly housed in.) So it was down to two. Yikes. There goes my rep.

Luckily, I made it to RIS.

Dining Out: BlackSalt Fish Market & Restaurant, Palisades D.C.

Here’s the much belated last posting for Restaurant Week: lunch at Black Salt. It was a meal so delicious that I had it twice in one weekend. I went on Saturday with a friend then on Sunday to celebrate my mother’s retirement.

Dining Out: Adour at The St. Regis, D.C.

Went to Happy Hour Friday to flirt with cute boys and play darts and groove to the tunes of my yoot, and then had dinner with Viv- a friend I went skiing with in Tahoe. It being Restaurant Week, and us feeling flush with imagined wealth and privilege, we dined at Adour at The St. Regis (dahling!) and it was both elegant and wonderful… and yet not.

August 24 – 30 is DC Restaurant Week.

I just got weighed and body fat checked at the gym this morning- no surprise, following the concussion, the move, the trip, the return, etc. I’m up again. 145lb. 15.7%. That said, I’m still 15 lbs. lighter than I was when I first started working out over 2 years ago, still a size 8, and I’m relatively certain that if I actually DID my cardio (I’m a lying liar who lies- sorry, Trainer Guy) I’d get back down to 130-5 in short order.

Restaurant Week? Really? Um… can I get back to you on that? Continue reading

Thinky thoughts: Aaaaaaaaaand… WE’RE BACK!

>I’m pleased to report that I have found a place to live! It’s about 5 miles from where I currently hang my hat, and it’s got everything I want- reasonable rent, a good sized kitchen with a pass-through (and with more cabinets then there are closets in the whole place), windows in every room (but not the kitchen- the bathroom, but not the kitchen), and a washer/dryer. I’m moving in the middle of next month.

I also changed jobs within my company and will be switching to a writing position next week. Yay! More writing! The only way my life could be better is… well, it’s pretty good right now. Best not to jinx it.

Restaurant Week was August 6-12, but a handful of places decided to extend that another week. Or two. I was lucky enough to get in meals at14K (okay, not lucky because it sucked, but I got to have lunch with my friend Alison, who is a marvelous person), Oyamel, Poste, Hook (and again for my mum’s birthday dinner), and PS7’s. I could not have been more pleased- I’m like a puppy wrapped in sunshine, here. Truleh. Capsule reviews after the jump. Continue reading

Dining out: Corduroy, Washington, D.C.

Well, that was interesting. AT took some photos and hopefully she’ll send them along, but until then, hopefully my words will be sufficient. Continue reading

Dining Out: D.C. Restaurant Week

After years of missing this due to overwhelming cases of either apathy or ignorance, I managed to get in on D.C. Restaurant Week! A dear friend, who I haven’t had a chance to see since early last month, got reservations at Corduroy and I got a spot. I’m quite excited because not only will I be sharing the meal with dear, lovely BR, but Corduroy has been on my list of places to try and for one fantastic evening I can actually afford it without guilt or taking out a title loan.
