Inspired and wired

RUNNING LIKE THE WIND before the timer on my camera goes off.

One of the staffing agencies I’m signed up with ran a Twitter contest- you were supposed to post a picture of a place that inspires you. Lucky me, I live less than 5 miles from Great Fall and so very early in the morning I drive out to the towpath and go for a brisk stroll out and back. I think it’s at least 2 miles round trip. It’s perfect for thinking about lots of things (like the novel I wrote for NaNoWriMo last year and am in the process of editing). Or nothing (at all). Or about food (like, say, lunch).

Summer salad part deux: Toasted walnuts, fresh strawberries, bleu cheese, endive, herb salad mix, champagne caper vinaigrette.

Need to figure out how to work in some protein there, but on the other hand why fix what ain’t broke? Yeah, sometimes I get this craving for Magnum bars, but after a good dose of fresh air my body rights itself and I snarf this down with lots of water and then feel compelled to do GREAT THINGS. Like pull all of the dishes out of the dishwasher and wash them by hand, write about 5K new really good words, apply for a GS-11, invite a random friend over for dinner and plan the menu without worrying they’ll turn up their nose at your idea of “dinner” (sauteed rockfish filets with pureed cauliflower, green salad, and a massive chocolate cake), mull over what to take to a 4th of July bbq (compost cookies?), maybe plan a road trip to sample some burgers the folks at Bon Appetit are talking about. Everybody’s got their somethin’.

What inspires you?
